Historical treasure

The Eudora community recently lost one of its most valued treasures. Paul Sommer, "Mr. Eudora" as I liked to call him, passed away Dec. 18.

Although he was not born in Eudora, Paul's family moved here when he was six so they could be near other family members. Paul not only thoroughly knew Eudora and the area history, he also lived it. He could always be counted on to give correct, unbiased information or tell where or whom to get verification of some Eudora story.

He was active in the Society for many years, telling his beloved Eudora stories when requested. He was a quiet, unassuming, simple, Christian man who loved his town and family.

The Community, Eudora Area Historical Society and I personally will miss him greatly.

Patty Johnston, president

Eudora Area Historical Society
