Services for Lorraine M. (House) Barnes, 73, Lawrence, were Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Lawrence, the daughter of Thomas E. and Olive Belle (Phillips) House. She attended school in Lawrence and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1948.
She worked for the state of Kansas Air Force Supply Depot in the 1950s in Lawrence and Topeka.
Mrs. Barnes married George E. "Eddie" Barnes in Lawrence in 1959. He died Dec. 12, 1989.
Survivors include a brother, Stanley House, Eudora; and a sister, Helen House, Topeka.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., Hospice Care of Douglas County or Centenary United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
