James A. Manley Sr.

A memorial gathering and open house for James A. Manley Sr., 66, Lawrence, will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 2705 Bluestem Court in Lawrence.
Mr. Manley died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Dorchester, Mass., the son of Fredrick William and Eva (Rowland) Manley.
Mr. Manley served in the Air Force for nine years. He was a firefighter for 15 years and drove a school bus for the Hays school district. He also owned and operated the Centennial Restaurant in Hays for three years. He lived in Eudora for several years.
He married Catherine Kahl on Aug. 29, 1958, in Topeka. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Vickie Gerstner, Mesa, Ariz.; three sons, Jim Manley Jr. and Jay Manley, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Scott Manley, Olathe; two brothers, Fred Manley and Robert Manley, both of Boston; three sisters, Joyce Wolff, Dorchester, Mass., Dottie Lovely, Brandon, Vt., and Barbara Manley, Boston; and six grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
