Lois Neis

Memorial services for Lois Louise Neis, 78, Eudora, will e at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora. Inurnment will be at Eudora Cemetery.
Mrs. Neis died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at the Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Lawrence, the daughter of Home and Erna Ziesenis Gerstenberger. She attended Eudora High School. She earned a bachelor of arts from Baker University and a master of arts from Kansas University.
She retired from the Gardner school district where she was an eighth-grade teacher at Nike Junior High School for 21 years. She was listed in the Outstanding Secondary Educators of America publication in 1975.
Mrs. Neis was a member of Baker University's Honor Society Alpha Delta Sigma, Kansas National Education Association, 1900 and Now, a member and officer of the Eudora Area Historical Society, Friend of the Lied Center and St. Paul United Church of Christ.
She also volunteered for Audio Reader at Kansas University and at the Eudora Nursing Center.
Mrs. Neis served on the Eudora Board of Education from 1966 to 1968.
She married Robert Neis on Feb. 18, 1945, in Eudora. He died in 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Neis, Eudora, Brian Neis, Albuquerque, N.M., and Paul Neis, Mountain Home, Ark.; two daughters, Cindy Gold, Phoenix, Ariz., and Merilee Dymacek, Eudora; a sister, Helen Staples, Cameron Park, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, Audio Reader at Kansas University, the church or to the charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence 66044.
