Services for Sharon Kay Raybern, 63, Eudora, will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Raybern died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Atchison, the daughter of James Claudius Sr. and Lillie May Bryan Raybern. She grew up in Eudora and graduated from Eudora High School in 1960.
Ms. Raybern worked as a dietician for Valley View Nursing Home. She was the first employee to receive the Elanor Kharasch Caring Award for providing special care while employed at Valley View. She was also employed by Brandon Woods Retirement Center until she became ill.
Ms. Raybern was the first person in Douglas County to receive defibrillation from the police department in December 2001.
Survivors include a son, Richard D. O'Keefe, Perry; a brother, Charles Raybern of Missouri; five sisters, Lorene Martin, Atchison, Geraldine Thomas, Lawrence, Donna Bagby, Tacoma, Wash., Susan Crawford, Eudora, and Catherine Goetler, Rockton, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers, James C. Raybern Jr., and Gerald Raybern, and three sisters, Elsie Bunney, Veda Riesgo and Virginia Byers, preceded her in death.
