Gordon R. Ewy

Memorial services for Gordon Rexford Ewy, 71, Hartford, were Wednesday, July 5, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia with the Rev. Lee Hoskins of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia officiating. Mr. Ewy was cremated.

He died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Larned, the son of Otto and Vivian Salmans Ewy.

Mr. Ewy was a salesman for N.L. Industries in New York. He was also a farmer. He retired in 2003.

He served in the Army between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He graduated from Kansas University in 1957. While at KU, he was a member and president of the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Mr. Ewy was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church.

He married Carol Rushton on March 27, 1960, in Erie, Penn. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Charles Ewy, Neosho Rapids, and Robert Ewy, Eudora; two daughters, Susan Lounsbury, Eudora, and Gail Jacquote, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Marilyn Sauber, Ellinwood; and 10 grandchildren.

A sister, George Shuler, preceded him in death.

Memorials may be sent to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia 66801. A memorial fund will be designated at a later date.
