Gertrude Coon returned to her home Sunday after spending 10 days at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.


  • Clarice Morriss is home after spending several days at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

  • Gina Thompkins, Lone Jack, Mo., visited her mother, Clarice Morriss, Saturday.

  • Marilyn and Melvin Morriss Jr., spent Sunday evening with his mother, Clarice Morriss.

  • Tillie Bichelmeyer, Emma Jean Taylor and Valerie Richardson drove to the home of Ellen Moll in Olathe Tuesday. They were joined by Julia Polfer, Olathe, and Jan Kelley, Overland Park. They had lunch and spent the day playing pinochle.

  • Darlene Randel and Shirley Cummings, Olathe, took their mother, Elva Jordan, and Peggy Crawford to the Kansas Old Tyme Fiddlers potluck dinner Friday in De Soto.

  • Darlene Randel and her sister Shirley Cummings, Olathe, and Peggy Crawford attended the Franklin County Rodeo Friday night. Shirley was honored because it was her birthday.

  • Forty relatives and friends gathered at the home of LaVerne and Sharon Musick, Linwood, for a pig roast in honor of my son Raymond Steffen and my great-granddaughter Alice Marie Steffen, Mesa, Ariz., and my grandson Richard Steffen and great-grandson Nicholas Steffen, Surprise, Ariz.

My grandsons Robert Musick, Eudora, and Richard, cooked the pig for me.

Everyone enjoyed the food and visiting together Saturday evening.


  • My granddaughter Mary Steffen returned to her home in Mesa, Ariz., Wednesday after visiting me for a week.

  • My son Raymond Steffen and Mary and Alice Marie Steffen drove to Maryville, Mo., Tuesday and spent the day with my daughter and son-in-law Pam and Wilson Snively.

  • I have been blessed these last 10 days to have my family visit me.

My great-grandson Nick Steffen, Surprise, Ariz., fixed breakfast for all of us Thursday morning and my great-granddaughter Alice Marie Steffen fixed breakfast for all of us Sunday morning.

My son Dudley Steffen, Gravois Mills, Mo., had dinner with us Friday evening. He spent several days with his sister Sharon Musick and family.

My grandson Rick and great-grandson Nick came Wednesday and stayed with their cousins John and Errin Steffen and family.

Raymond and Alice Marie Steffen returned to their home Sunday afternoon. Rick and Nick returned Tuesday to their home.

It was really a joy to have them all here.
