Cold bats doom Cards in regional
May 18, 2006
Two teams backed by enthusiastic fans gathered on the field of Johnson County 3 and 2 Baseball Club’s main softball field for the Class 4A regional title game Tuesday evening. Unfortunately one of those teams taking to the diamond for the championship game wasn’t Eudora.
Girls easily defend league crown

Coming around the final turn during the second leg of Thursday’s 3,200-meter relay, sophomore Lauren Colman kept remembering the things she was told before every race this season. Her goal in this particular event was to keep third-place Baldwin in exactly that position while maintaining second-place for Eudora in the first relay of the 2006 Frontier League meet at Paola.

Regional champs, the Eudora baseball team now eyes state
May 18, 2006
It finally happened. After four years at the helm of the Eudora Cardinals baseball team, head coach Dirk Kinney completed the task he set out to do when he took over the team in 2003. Eudora ended three seasons worth of regional tournament frustrations Tuesday night as it clinched its first berth in the 4A state baseball tournament in the program’s eight-year history with a 7-2 title game victory over Louisburg at Eudora.

Missed chance noted on Mother’s Day
May 18, 2006
As usual, I’m a little late reflecting on the holiday just past, which in this case is Mother’s Day. It also fell on the week I didn’t write, but still I found myself recalling memories of my Mom just when I thought every memory had been plumbed to its depth.
