Martin named Woman of Year
Cathleen Martin, Crystal Lake, Ill., received the 2006 St. Thomas Woman of the Year Award for her outstanding service to her parish community at the St. Thomas Women's Club spring luncheon May 11.
Martin has been a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake, Ill., since June 2000. She has led many projects in the past few years that include restoring the parish nursery, updating the cry room and reorganization of the parish library.
Martin has coordinated the Mother Mary Guild for stay-at-home mothers and parish perennial plant sale, delivers meals with the Elizabeth ministry for expectant parents, revised the parish directory, founded the Lunch with Monsignor for new parishioners and organized many speakers for the St. Thomas Women Club.
Martin continues to share her time and talent with the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish as a co-librarian and religious educator.
She and her husband, Matthias Martin, have two children -- Maria and William. She is a homemaker. He works for Motorola, Schaumburg Ill.
She is the daughter-in-law of Joe Martin and Patricia Grosdidier, both of Eudora; and granddaughter of Norbert and Margaret Grosdidier, Eudora.
