Don and Monica Durkin are asking for slightly used books and new school supplies to send to their oldest daughter Beth, who is currently living in Mongolia.
Beth Durkin joined the Peace Corps and is serving in Mongolia for two years teaching the English language to middle school-age students through adults.
The English language was declared the country's official second language and its goal is to place a Peace Corps volunteer in every school in Mongolia to teach English.
Easy-level books (around third-grade level) are needed as well as visual aid school supplies like flash cards with basic words, maps, stickers and educational posters, dry erase markers and erasers. Monetary donations to help with shipping costs will also be accepted.
Donated items may be taken to Don and Monica Durkin, 722 Ash St., Eudora.
For more information, call Monica Durkin at 542-2240.
