Eight Eudora High School students were selected to participate Thursday in the ninth annual Concert Honor Band Festival at Baker University.
EHS musicians selected for participation are junior Whitney Box, bass clarinet; senior Ali Nila, French horn; sophomore Erik Russell, baritone saxophone; senior James Bruner, tuba; sophomore Kenneth Hughes, trombone; freshman Ashley Lagerstrom, trumpet; freshman John Woodgate, trumpet; and senior Whitney Harper, euphonium.
Students will participate in an all-day rehearsal, culminating in a 7 p.m. concert in Rice Auditorium on the Baker University campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
"It is truly an honor to be chosen for such an ensemble," Eudora director of bands, Mac Knight said. "These students will do a fantastic job representing our schools and community."
The concert will feature clarinet soloist J.D. Parr, Baker University professor, with the Baker University Symphonic Winds under the direction of Raymond James Jr., director of bands. Jane Hicklin, a band instructor in the Lee's Summit, Mo., school district, will direct the honor band concert.
