LMH raising funds
More than 100 community volunteers have been recruited to make calls on behalf of Lawrence Memorial Hospital as it attempts to raise $8 million for a major expansion.
Hospital leaders hosted a kick-off celebration Jan. 11 for new volunteers, who will be making calls through the end of February.
The campaign so far has raised $6.64 million. The $40 million expansion project will include space for a new emergency department, the conversion of semi-private rooms into private rooms, additional birthing rooms, new surgery suites, and improvements to the intensive care unit.
In addition to the Lawrence campaign, fund-raising efforts are under way in Tonganoxie. A campaign also is scheduled to begin later this winter in Eudora.
