Obituary: Gerald B. Park
Graveside services for Gerald Blanchard Park, 92, Lawrence, were Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Topeka.
Mr. Park died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
He was born June 25, 1914, in Auburn, the son of Floyd and Delia Park.
Mr. Park served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and flew fuel and cargo to the Flying Tigers in China from a base in India. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and later became supervisor of Signs and Markers, where he worked for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Arab Shrine and Order of The Eastern Star.
He married Marie Maybell Park in 1942. She died in 1982. He married Frances Olson Park on Dec. 24, 1999. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma, and a brother, Dale.
Other survivors include three stepsons: Willard Olson, Paradise Valley, Ariz., Willis Olson, Eudora, and Douglas Olson, Westmoreland; a stepdaughter, Karen Shumate, Lawrence; and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Shriner's Children's Fund, sent in care of Arab Temple, 1301 S. Kansas Ave., Topeka 66612-1332.
