Obituary: George H. Hagan

1934-2007

Funeral services for George Harold Hagan, 72, Eudora, were Wednesday, March 7, at First Presbyterian Church of Olathe. Burial was at the De Soto Cemetery.

Mr. Hagan died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe.

He was born Sept. 24, 1934. He attended Lenexa Grade School and graduated from Olathe High School.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. Hagan was the owner of Hagan Construction Co. for more than 40 years before his retirement. He served as past president of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Lenexa City Council and formerly was on the planning commissions for both Lenexa and De Soto. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a former Shriner, and a life member of the De Soto Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He was instrumental in the starting of the Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department.

He married Carol Curtis. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Wesley Hagan, Gladstone, Mo., Bradley Hagan, Kansas City, Kan., and Ramsey Hagan, Eudora; a daughter, Kristy Lowe, Olathe; two sisters: Asta VanKeirsbilck and Becky Anderson, both of Bonner Springs; a brother, David Hagan, Marshall, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

His mother, Ona Schmidt Millington; his father, Soren Schmidt; and seven siblings, Ejlif Schmidt, Gudmund Schmidt, Simon Schmidt, Asta Rhoades, Stephen Schmidt, Robert Schmidt and Sandra Mitchell, preceded him in death.
