Co-op board meeting
The regular meeting of the East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education Board of Directors took place March 13 at the Cooperative Central Office in Baldwin City. Members present were Blaine Cone, Susan Rader, Ande Parks, Kenny Massey, Jim Martin, director Caren Lowe and Sue Martin, clerk of the Board. Ardith Bell was unable to attend.
Massey made a motion to extend Lowe's contract to June 2009. Martin seconded the motion and it carried by a 5-0 vote.
Parks made a motion to approve a paraeducator position in Eudora for the remainder of the fiscal year 2007 school year. Rader seconded the motion and it passed by a 5-0 vote.
Massey made a motion to accept the resignation of Gretchen Reed, Eudora occupational therapist, for the 2007-2008 school year. Parks seconded the motion and it carried by a 5-0 vote.
The Board reviewed the adjusted district assessments reflecting a lower carryover amount from the previous year.
In order to accommodate class coverage for one hour of another teacher's absence at Wellsville High School, the Board agreed to pay a $25 per hour reimbursement rate to a Wellsville teacher as compensation for using his plan time. Massey made the motion and it was seconded by Martin. It passed by a 5-0 vote.
The East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education is the special education cooperative that serves Eudora, Baldwin and Wellsville.
