Used cell phones needed

November 29, 2007

Douglas County Senior Services is accepting donations of used cell phones as part of its "911 Cell Phones for Seniors" program. The cell phones will be given to seniors who request them and only can be used to call 911 operators.

Phones not used directly for the program are recycled to raise funds for this and other programs offered by the Community Services Department at DCSS. While phones must have a battery and charger for them to be utilized in this program, phones without chargers gladly are accepted for recycling.

Anyone who would like to donate a used cell phone (no longer activated) is asked to bring it to the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vermont, or one of the other drop-off locations:

  • Baldwin Public Library, at Seventh and High streets
  • Eudora City Hall, 4 E. 7th Street
  • Eudora Public Library, 14 E. 9th Street
  • Lecompton City Hall, 327 Elmore Street

For more information, call DCSS Community Services Program Assistant Ashley Schemm at 842-0543.
