Career day set
Schools in Douglas, Johnson and Miami counties have partnered with Johnson County Community College to sponsor a Career Destinations open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Student Center Building at the college, 12345 College Blvd., Overland Park.
More than 50 Career and Technical Preparation Program representatives have been invited to share information with parents and students ranging from automotive technology to nursing.
Options for 21st Century careers, information about job outlook, salary potential, training/ education requirements plus financial aid information will be available in one location for the annual event.
Programs of interest include respiratory care, emergency medical science, railroad technology, massage therapy, construction management animation, hospitality management, graphic design, early childhood education, interior design, marketing and management, game development, health information technology, cosmetology, automotive technology, nursing, business office technology, metal fabrication/welding, accounting, legal studies, entrepreneurship and fashion design.
Many of the programs have the option of expanding into a four-year degree if the student has interest.
