Planning commission approves EMS site plan
The Eudora Planning Commission April 2 unanimously approved the site plan for the expansion of Eudora Middle School.
The middle school expansion will feature a sixth grade pod addition on the south side of the school as well as an enlargement of the commons and kitchen area.
The cost of the expansion will be about $3 million, which will be paid for by the $45 million bond issue that voters passed Nov. 6.
The project will go out to bid in early May, with construction set to begin when school is out on May 21. The project is set to finish in the fall of 2009.
Construction at the sight of the new elementary school continues, and Superintendent of Schools Marty Kobza said he hopes to bring the final plat before the planning commission for consideration within the next 10 days.
In early March, the commission approved the preliminary plat and sight plan for the school, but tabled an approval of the final plat and sight plans until a later date due to pending construction and storm water plans.
