Medicalodges, Lions Club to recognize veterans
Medicalodges, Eudora and the Lions Club will have a community potluck street dance and recognition of area servicemen and women from 4 to 7 p.m. June 14 in front of the facility on 1415 Maple St.
The two organizations will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, paperware and drinks. Members of the community are asked to bring an item that depends on their last name.
Last names beginning with A through D are asked to bring potato salad; E though G are asked to bring hamburger buns; H through J are asked to bring desserts; K through L are asked to bring baked beans; M through P are asked to bring hot dog buns; Q though T are asked to bring potato chips; and U through Z brings canned sodas.
Barbecue grills also are needed.
There also will be an ice cream truck from which those in attendance can purchase desserts.
A band will play for three hours throughout the event and dinner will be served at 5 p.m.
"A lot is going to depend on the feedback that I get from families that have servicemen and women that want to be recognized," Medicalodges, Eudora administrator Tami Klinedinst said. "If we get a lot of feedback, it will be a go. If not, we'll just have a street dance."
At about 2 p.m., Maple and Acorn Streets will be closed between 14th and 15th streets.
Parking will be at the football field parking lot, as parking will not be allowed on the side streets by order of the Eudora Police Department.
