5 questions: Councilwoman named person of the year
Eudora City Councilwoman Lori Fritzel was named the 2008 Eudora Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year. She was given the award Saturday night at the chamber’s annual dinner. Fritzel stepped down as the chamber’s secretary this year, and she also will not run for re-election to the city council in April. Q: What was your reaction to winning the award? A: I was stunned and overwhelmed. Once I got home and got to think about it a little bit, I was so humbled to think that the chamber thought I was worthy of such an award. Q: What gives you the enthusiasm to participate in the chamber and the council? A: A passion for the community and just wanting to get involved. Q: Will you miss being as involved as you have been? A: Yes, I’ve already had to give up a lot of the activities in the organizations that I was in, and I miss that connection to the community. I’m hoping to be able to get back into it soon. Q: What do you think the chamber’s role should be in the future? A: The speaker (Kansas Small Business Development Center Consultant Mark Buckley) really inspired me as far as the chamber getting involved in drawing people to the city of Eudora. The Chamber did a good job with that this year with the music in the park events. Q: What advice would you give to to the candidates in this year’s elections? A: Keep an open mind, listen to what people have to say, don’t judge and just have a good heart.
