The hearing in City Superintendent Gary Malburg's lawsuit against Mayor Fred Stewart, the city and its five council members was postponed because of a conflict of interest with one of the attorneys involved.

Among the 10 bids for the new elementary school received by the Eudora school board, Bron Construction Company of Kansas City, Kan., presented the lowest base bid on $672,672. The bids went as high as $774,329.

• Newly elected officers for the Eudora Lions Club were Lowell Henderson, president; Tom Jerome, first vice president; Alf Oleson, second vice president; Clobert Noble, third vice president; A.J. Morriss, tail twister; and Marvin Beem, Lion Tamer. Board of directors were Vernon Mott, William Nichols and Ben Ravins. Darrell Abel was also installed as a new member.

The Knights of Columbus order of Lawrence enjoyed a picnic in the John Schopper grove on the banks of the Wakarusa. The members of Holy Family Church were invited guests.

The Iota Phi Phi Club met at the home of Irene Carter with Lillian Fuller and Lulu Lothholz as assisting hostesses.

Bridge was played at four tables. Mattie Kindred won high for the guests and Madge Rothberger high for the members.
