5 Questions: EudoraFest organizers hope number 13 holds good fortune
EudoraFest will celebrate its 13th year starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Barbara Kruger, one of the event’s organizer discussed the day’s new elements and talked about her favorite part of the festivities.
Q: How excited are you to have Main Street construction-free this year?
A: I am very excited that Main Street is construction-free this year. Eudora has the chance to show off its beautiful downtown area that had caused some creative planning last year for the craft and food vendors.
Everything will be within walking distance, and there won’t be any construction dust. The committee has ordered sunny weather for the day as well.
Q: What are some of the rules people need to keep in mind when attending the event?
A: Please leave your pets, bikes, skateboards and all weapons at home — even toy weapons. This will allow for everyone to walk safely and enjoy the craft and food booths and the entertainment.
Q: Is there anything new this year?
A: New this year will be the "Lucky No. 13 Parade." It will start at Laws Field and follow Main Street to downtown. We have quite a few participants lined up and are excited to have this addition. I hope it will draw more people to EudoraFest and become an annual tradition.
Q: What is your favorite part of EudoraFest?
A: My favorite part has always been seeing all the different craft vendors, some of whom I have met at other fairs. I enjoy seeing what other vendors have made to sell. It makes Christmas shopping easier, too.
Q: How many vendors do you expect, where will they be set up and what will they be selling?
A: I think there are between 65 to 70 vendors, and room for more. All craft and food vendors will be along both sides of Main Street, between Seventh and Ninth streets. As far as items sold, there will be plenty of handcrafted items — from candles to quilts — and lots of food.
The Methodist Church will have their pancake breakfast again and their famous apple dumplings for sale in the concession stand in CPA Park.
There will be lots of kids games in the park and live entertainment throughout the day. Something for everyone.
