Community flu shot clinic
The Lawrence Douglas County Health Department is offering a seasonal flu clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Eudora Elementary School, 801 E. 10th St.
Cost for the vaccine is $26 for adults and $22 for children under age 3. Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid and HealthWave will be accepted and no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend seasonal flu immunization to anyone wishing to reduce their risk of contracting seasonal flu. Because seasonal flu viruses are different strains from H1N1/swine flu, people should plan to get both vaccines.
The H1N1 vaccine will not be available at this clinic. Planning is underway for H1N1 vaccination clinics in Eudora later this fall, once the vaccine is made available.
