Sidewalk snow removal ordinance in effect
Removal of snow from city sidewalks made its way into discussions at Monday’s Eudora City Council meeting.
Councilman Tim Reazin noted the city has an ordinance that states all snow and ice remaining on sidewalks 12 hours after snow has fallen could be removed by city staff at a cost of $75 to the property owner.
Harrenstein said the ordinance is enforced in the same manner as building and fire codes.
“We react to citizen complaints on that,” Harrenstein said. “We don’t necessarily deploy city staff to make sure the sidewalks are clear.”
Though the council took no action, they might discuss the ordinance at a future meeting and Reazin said he would at least like to change the time limit to 48 hours after snow has fallen.
