Marjorie Lee Lynn 1921 - 2008
Memorial services for Marjorie "Margie" Lee (West) Lynn, 86, were April 7 at Monticello Methodist Church in Shawnee. Burial followed at old Monticello Cemetery.
Mrs. Lynn died April 4, 2008, at Hillside Village Nursing Home.
She was born on July 14, 1921, to Virgil and Frances (Kerner) West in St. Joseph, Mo. She had three younger brothers, Virgil "Bud" West, John "Jack" West, and Robert "Bob" West. She attended school at Shawnee Mission and met her husband Elden Lynn while working on a school play. They married on Dec. 28, 1940, in Butler, Mo.
The couple purchased their home at 71st and Gleason Street in December 1947, where they lived there for 60 years. Mrs. Lynn was homemaker, a Sunday school teacher at the Monticello Methodist Church and worked on the election board each year.
Her husband followed her in death by 18 days. Mrs. Lynn was survived by a brother, Bob West; two sons, Denny and Marilyn Lynn of Eudora, and Chuck and Melissa Lynn of Lawrence; a daughter Frances and John Duckworth of Shawnee; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
