Kittie Shell Young

No services are planned for Kittie Shell Young, 90, Eudora.

Mrs. Young died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the Eudora Nursing Center. She donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

She was born May 9, 1915, in Shiloh, Ark., the daughter of Jay Hue and Kittie Ann Mitchell. She moved to Eudora in 1953.

Mrs. Young was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Eudora.

She married Robert Caskey in 1933. They divorced. She married Jack Nicholson in 1936. He died in 1937. She married John Benjamin Young in 1938.

Survivors include four daughters, Jonell Cundiff, Rockwood, Tenn., Shirley Varney, Olathe, Paulette Young, Edgerton, and Opal Kaufman, Eudora; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1917, her mother in 1925, a brother in 1952, a daughter, Lena Ruth Caskey, in 1936, her husband John B. Young in 1988 and a son, John Wayne Young in 2004.

The family suggests memorials in her name to Special Olympics, 5280 Foxridge Drive, Mission 66202, or to the Eudora Nursing Center or Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 1003 John L. Williams Drive, Eudora 66025.
