The shopkeeper was swamped. Each time he took care of one customer, the next sidled up. People surrounded his table with cash crumpled in their hands. Within minutes Nic Bakarich’s stock of wooden signs, carved with phrases such as “Caution: Do Not Enter,” were gone.
Recreation program expanding

With a hardhat and gold-colored shovel, Eudora Parks and Recreation Director Tammy Hodges officially broke ground Tuesday at the site of the Eudora Community and Aquatic Center. Eudora Mayor Tom Pyle, City Administrator Cheryl Beatty, representatives from Vanum Construction and BG Consultant representatives Cecil Kingsley and project architect Jay Zimmerschied joined Hodges to celebrate the official start of construction. The groundbreaking marks the continued expansion of the parks and recreation department expansion under Hodges.
Girls can’t hang in final pre-break game

The difference between the two halves was like night and day. Despite an action-filled and aggressive first half, the Eudora girls basketball team received its first loss in league play after a tired second half. Eudora now sits at 1-1 in the Frontier League and 3-3 on the season after Monday’s home loss to Gardner Edgerton, 46-30.

At least the first quarter was strong. Despite a valiant effort, the Eudora boys basketball team lost to Gardner Edgerton 51-35 Tuesday night at home.
Wrestlers maintain strong start

The Eudora wrestling team would get the next two weeks off no matter how it rounded off the 2006 portion of the season. With back-to-back strong showings, the squad can certainly say it earned the break, however. The Cardinal wrestlers claimed second this time at the Emporia Winter Classic on Saturday, and with most of its early-season goals accomplished, the squad is ready for a two-week holiday break.
