How They Voted
The Senate on Friday approved, 27-13, Senate Bill 508, the "Abstinence Plus Education Act." The legislation would require each of the state's public school districts to provide a comprehensive education program in human sexuality that would emphasize the benefits of abstinence and provide information about sexually transmitted infections and diseases.
Sen. Roger Pine, the Law-rence Republican who represents Eudora, voted for the bill.
The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
