EHS class joins food drive efforts
Because of continued growth, the Eudora High School government class has joined the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Eudora 4-H Club members in the annual Scouting for Food efforts this year. The food drive will take place March 31.
Canned and packaged non-perishable food items are needed to help supply the Eudora Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry, housed at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Eighth and Church streets.
Between March 20 and March 30, members of the above organizations will be distributing food drive informational fliers and special "Scouting-For-Food" bags to each home in Eudora.
Eudora residents that want to participate are asked to place packaged and canned non-perishable food items in the marked bags and leave them on their front porches by 9 a.m. March 31, when they will be picked up starting at 9:15 a.m. The food is then taken to the local food pantry, where it is available to help meet the needs of the community.
If the marked bag is lost or not received, any paper or plastic bag or box marked "Scouting for Food" may be used.
If items are not picked up by 2 p.m. March 31, call John Scott at 542-3510, and arrangements will be made for pick up.
The Eudora Scouting groups have participated in this community service project since 1988. The Eudora 4-H Club members joined in the collection efforts in 2005.
