Harless named alumn of the year
Eudora High School graduate Wendy Harless has been named the 2007 University of Missouri Kansas City Dental Alumni Association Young Alumn of the Year.
The award is presented annually to an alumnus or alumna who graduated in the past 10 years and maintained the highest ethical and professional standards in service to the dental profession, the UMKC School of Dentistry and the community.
Harless, a 2004 graduate of the UMKC School of Dentistry, has served as a staff dentist with La Clinica de Familia in Anthony, N.M., since July 2004. She performs all duties of a dentist in a rural community clinic, including those of scheduling coordinator for the dental staff quarterly education programs. She also presents those programs and other La Clinica education opportunities.
During dental school, Harless was a National Health Service Corps Scholarship recipient (2002-2004) and recipient of the Class of 1973 Scholarship, Class of 1949 Scholarship, James S. and Katheryn W. Taylor Scholarship, International College of Dentists Scholarship and UMKC Women's Council Fellowship. She was class of 2004 Student of the Year and Student Leader of the Year for SNDA/HAD in 2003.
Her many honors included the Organization of Teachers of Oral Diagnosis Award for 2004, Psi Omega Dental Fraternity Martin Dewey Award for 2002, Psi Omega Fraternal Achievement Award for 2004 and vice chancellor for student affairs honor recipient for winter 2004. She is a member of the Southwest District Dental Society and has served as secretary since 2004 and was the organization's vice president in 2006.
Harless is the daughter of Marsha and Ken Adkinson, Eudora. She graduated from Eudora High School in 1988.
