Girls beat Spring Hill, advance to championship
The Eudora girls basketball team finds itself in familiar circumstances after Thursday night's 50-42 victory over Spring Hill.
One year ago, the Cardinals lost in the sub-state championship game to Tonganoxie, effectively ending their season.
Eudora now faces Basehor-Linwood (20-1) with postseason hopes on the line.
Senior Emily Ballock led the way for the Cardinals against Spring Hill, scoring a game-high 21 points and hitting all but one of her free throws down the stretch to clinch a shot at a 2008 Kansas 4A State Tournament berth.
Ballock was seven of eight from the free throw line in the fourth, scoring nine of her points in the final period.
Junior Haley Epperson added 10 points for the Cardinals, while senior Nikki Snider grabbed nine rebounds.
The chamionship game is to be played at 6 p.m. March 1 at Spring Hill.
