Cards sweep Cats

Haley Epperson scored 23 points and Bailey Scott scored 18 points and hit four threes to lead Eudora to a 60-36 win Friday night at De Soto.

It was a back-and-forth game in the early minutes as each team traded baskets and the lead until Eudora’s Shea Lounsbury scored inside to give Eudora the lead at 11-9.

The Cardinals (7-1, 2-0) led 32-20 at the half but De Soto (2-6, 0-2) cut the lead to 41-34 early in the fourth quarter on a basket by Katie Williams. But Eudora went on a 19-2 run to close out the game.

Both Eudora and De Soto will play in the Tonganoxie Invitational next week.

Eudora-De Soto boys

A late technical foul on De Soto and free throws by Justin Ballock and Evan Cleveland gave Eudora a two-point lead with less than three seconds to play. De Soto’s Mason Wedel’s three-quarter-court heave at the buzzer was perfectly online and grazed the bottom of the net, falling just short and Eudora escaped with a 53-51 win Friday night at De Soto.

Ballock led Eudora (7-1, 2-0) with 15 points and Drew Noble added 13 to lead Eudora. Wedel, Jamel Townsend and Brandan Philbrook all scored 10 each to lead De Soto (5-3, 1-1. Both boys team will play next week in the Tonganoxie Invitational.
